You can learn reiki to give you a practical way to take your health and wellbeing into your own hands. By learning how to move energy and affect energetic systems, you'll be able to use that knowledge to improve your own health and the health of your loved ones.
It's important to maintain an active presence of healers in every community, and to learn reiki is to join with other natural healers around the world to help make the world a healthier, more positive place to live while at the same time directly healing your immediate friends, family and neighbours.
Who Practices Reiki?
While all healers affect life energy, not all healers use reiki. Reiki is a specific form of energy medicine, and can only be performed by someone that has been attuned to it. Anyone can be attuned to practice reiki, and once you have been attuned you retain the gift of reiki for the rest of your life.
Reiki is part of the Eastern energetic medical tradition, and is even beginning to find a place in western hospitals. Nurses and volunteers are receiving training and attunement, and in some states reiki training qualifies for nursing continuing education credits.
Reiki is practiced in communities around the world, by everyday people and by medical professionals both in the alternative and traditional healing worlds.
How Can You Learn Reiki?
You can learn reiki in person through a class, or online through remote coursework. Whether taught in person or through a distance learning class, the benefits of reiki education and attunement are the same. The main difference is cost. In person classes tend to be more expensive, and often do not provide much in the way of course materials for later reference.
What Are the Different Levels of Reiki Training?
When you learn reiki you can go through three different levels, or attunements. At each level, practitioners unlock a new understanding of reiki healing and develop further skills to allow them to heal themselves and others.
Reiki 1 covers the basics of reiki healing, and enables practitioners to begin using reiki on themselves and others during in-person sessions. Practitioners are attuned to reiki, so even if you've been practicing a type of energy work before, you can only begin practicing true reiki after your initial attunement.
The focus of reiki 1 is to unlock reiki energy channels throughout your body and to help get you started on a regular self-reiki practice at home.
Reiki 2 provides a deeper understanding of reiki, and students are taught to send distance reiki through time and space, to heal people and communities far from a practitioner’s current location.
Though you may begin practicing reiki on yourself and others after learn reiki level 1, the focus of level 2 is to expand your practice beyond yourself and allow you to use your healing practice to help heal others.
Reiki 3, or the reiki master level, attunement elevates practitioners to a teaching level, and expands your understanding of reiki to the point of being able to teach and attune others. Receiving this attunement and training represents a deep commitment to the practice and ideology of reiki and is recommended for those who wish to practice reiki healing professionally.
Since much of reiki in the more advanced levels (2 and 3) revolves around remote healing and using your healing gift for those that are not physically present, it's beneficial to receive your initial training in that format as well. One does not need to be physically present to give or receive reiki energy, and training is no different.
By removing the distractions of physical proximity from the equation, distance students are able to fully concentrate on the flow of reiki energy through themselves and connect deeply with the universal life energy all around them.
