To truly understand Flow, we begin by exploring the foundations of positive psychology—an approach that focuses on human flourishing, happiness, and potential, rather than just treating illness. You’ll then discover the fascinating history behind the concept of Flow and how it has evolved.
From there, we dive into the eight key elements of the Flow state, breaking down what they are, why they matter, and how they work together to create peak experiences. You’ll explore how Flow is measured, the common challenges to maintaining it, and the traits of an autotelic personality—people who naturally enter Flow more easily.
You’ll also learn how Flow can be experienced through the physical senses, as well as through mental activities you can practise and apply in your daily life. From creative pursuits to work, learning, and even play—Flow has a place in nearly everything we do.
We’ll look at why some people achieve Flow more easily than others, how certain jobs and environments naturally support it, and why much of our free time can feel unfulfilling when it lacks the elements required to reach Flow.
Finally, the course explores the life-changing outcomes of Flow—from increased performance and learning, to deeper enjoyment, greater self-awareness, and a stronger sense of purpose. You’ll also learn how to pursue Flow even during times of adversity, stress, or distraction—giving you tools to rise above challenges and reconnect with your potential.
