Ancient Wisdom and Human Potential Diploma
Somewhere in the ancient libraries of Alexandria, carved into the walls of Egyptian temples, and preserved in the forest retreats of India's sages, humanity left behind detailed maps of what the human mind is truly capable of. These aren't myths or folklore. They're precise, hard-won accounts of attention, transformation and inner power — built by people who took the question of human potential far more seriously than we do today.
If you've ever felt that modern life doesn't quite capture everything we're capable of, you're in good company. The greatest civilisations in history felt exactly the same — and they spent thousands of years working out what to do about it.

What Will You Learn?
Where Recorded Human Wisdom Began: Mesopotamia and Egypt
You'll start where writing itself began — on the mud plains of ancient Sumer — and meet the very first literature in human history, which turns out to be wisdom literature. You'll explore the Sumerian concept of the mes (the inherited divine powers that make us human), and work through the Epic of Gilgamesh in all its movements: the tyrant king, the life-changing friendship, the grief that cracks a man open, and the quietly revolutionary ending. Module 2 moves to Egypt, where you'll study the soul's many layers (the ka, ba, akh and more), the Weighing of the Heart, the concept of Ma'at as a principle of living in alignment, and the astonishing idea that creation itself works by heart and tongue.
Each module in this section carries a daily practice — a mortality contemplation from the Mesopotamian tradition and the Egyptian Evening Weighing — so the ancient wisdom settles into lived experience, not just interesting reading. If you're drawn to go deeper into Egypt's world specifically, the Ancient Egyptian Rulers Diploma Course makes a natural companion.
India's Great Training Systems: The Upanishads, Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita
Three modules take you deep into the Indian traditions — and this is where the human potential movement meets some of its deepest roots. The Upanishads make what might be the boldest claim ever recorded about what you fundamentally are. Patanjali's Yoga Sutras offer something closer to an engineer's manual for the inner world: a precise system of attention, character and the powers that develop when both are cultivated. The Bhagavad Gita adds the question of how to act wisely in impossible circumstances — and answers it with three paths and a teaching on action that has influenced thinkers from Emerson to Gandhi.
You'll leave these modules with three practices: the witness meditation with Neti, Neti; Dharana (training the beam of attention); and Karma Yoga, the consecrated task. The Yoga Diploma Course and The History of Ancient India Diploma Course both pair naturally with this section.
Buddhist Mind Science, the Hebrew Prophets and the Mystery Schools of Greece
The middle modules of this perennial philosophy course move into three traditions that approached the question of human potential from very different angles. Buddhist mind science — the teachings of the Buddha himself — gives you an extraordinarily precise account of how the mind constructs suffering, and what a direct path through it looks like. You'll work with Satipatthana, the four foundations of mindfulness, alongside teachings on the higher knowledges and Dream Yoga.
The Hebrew prophets bring something different: an emphasis on discernment and the sternest tests of authenticity ever applied to inner experience. You'll also encounter Kabbalah — the letters, the Tree of Life and the concept of repair — before moving to Greece, where you'll walk through the Oracle at Delphi, the mystery schools of Eleusis, Plato's four divine madnesses, and the Allegory of the Cave. For those who want to go deeper into the Greek world, the Introduction to Ancient Greece Diploma Course is an excellent companion. If the Buddhist dimension resonates, the Buddhism Diploma Course takes that thread much further.
You'll explore:
● The Buddha's teaching on the diagnosis of suffering and the bonfire of the self
● Satipatthana — the direct path of mindfulness across its four foundations
● The higher knowledges, Dream Yoga and the Clear Light
● The Hebrew prophetic call, Elijah's still small voice, and Ezekiel's visionary chariot
● Kabbalah: the letters, the Tree of Life and the concept of tikkun (repair)
● The mystery schools of Eleusis and the knowledge that cannot be told
● Plato's Allegory of the Cave and what it actually means for your inner life today
The Hermetica and the Tao: Where the Course Arrives
The final two modules bring the journey home. The Hermetica — the great synthesis texts of Alexandria, where Egyptian, Greek and Jewish wisdom met — invite the mind to grow to the measure of the cosmos itself. You'll study the Poimandres, the principle of 'as above, so below', Gnosis and the rebirth passage, and the extraordinary expansion instruction of Book XI. These are the texts that shaped Renaissance thought and lie behind much of what we'd now call esoteric studies in the Western tradition.
The Tao Te Ching closes the course with the concept of wu wei — effortless action — and the Inward Training texts that form the oldest meditation manual in Chinese history. Module 10 also brings everything together in a written synthesis and a personal rule of practice you can carry forward. On successful completion, you'll receive your CPD-accredited certification, ready to add to your CV or professional profile.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will have the option of printing your CPD accredited certificate.
