Hormones are chemical messengers – organic substances produced by endocrine glands and tissues that generally pass into the bloodstream and exert their action on other tissues distant from the site of secretion – controlling metabolism, growth, reproduction and bodily responses to stimuli. The Understanding Hormones Diploma Course explores the organs and glands that produce essential hormones, how these hormones can act on our bodies, and the main mechanisms that regulate them.

From there, you’ll learn about the various hormones of the human body and their specific functions, with each of the following being covered by a separate module. The course covers growth hormones, pancreatic hormones, male and female sex hormones, hormones produced during pregnancy and lactation, the hormones of the adrenal glands, and thyroid hormones.
The Understanding Hormones Diploma Course concludes with an exploration of endocrine disorders and how these can be associated with cancer. It also covers the multiple endocrine neoplastic syndromes (MEN), their main causes, and the types and mechanisms of ectopic hormonal syndromes.
