Introduction to Nursing

Nursing is not a singular profession. You’ll explore the various levels, specialisms, and fields of practice that a career in nursing can take, and be guided through the five-step nursing process that ensures patient care.

We’ll look through the basic knowledge that nurses need to have – examining disease states, pharmacological principles, bacterial and viral risks in healthcare settings, and the various tools and equipment used in the profession.

The Introduction to Nursing Diploma Course guides you in the specialist patient care provided by nurses throughout pregnancy, early childhood, and old age. We’ll also look at health promotion and the role of nurses as wellness ambassadors.

Finally, we’ll examine the laws and ethical rules nurses must follow to ensure patient comfort.

Nursing as a Career

Please note this course gives an in-depth introduction to the subject, but it does not qualify you to work as a nurse.

Nursing is regulated by the HCPC; anyone wishing to practise under this protected title must complete an approved HCPC programme and be registered with the HCPC. You must also gain practical experience.
