Packed with written, illustrated, and video instruction, the Cake Baking and Decorating Diploma Course will guide you, step-by-step, through the process of creating a delicious, fully-decorated cake and provide you with countless hints, tips and tricks along the way.

The cake baking course begins with a look at the essential tools and equipment you’ll be using, the process of designing a cake, and how to prepare yourself, your workspace and your ingredients.

You’ll be guided through baking a Madeira cake, a luxurious chocolate sponge, and a light fruit cake. Additionally, you’ll learn how to adjust ingredients for varying tastes and cake tin sizes.

You’ll discover how to level, torte, and fill your sponge with delicious fillings and cover in a buttercream crumb coating - ready to be covered in fondant icing. For fruit cakes, we look at how to cover them with an apricot jam glaze and marzipan.

The course then takes you through working with pre-made fondant and achieving a crisp, professional finish. You’ll learn about various cake decorations, and follow step-by-step guides to create a teddy bear and number toppers. The cake decorating course also covers how to make 2D and 3D decorations.

Finally, you’ll be shown how to combine your decorations and finish your cake. You’ll also be guided through other essential information, such as how to take a clear photograph of your creation, how to protect and transport it to a venue, and the food safety considerations, potential allergens and inedible parts of the cake that you should discuss with the recipient.

The Cake Baking and Decorating Diploma Course takes complete beginners and provides step-by-step guidance in written, illustrative and video forms to offer a level of understanding that may otherwise take much, much longer.

You may already have some experience with home baking and wish to advance your skills and increase your level of understanding, this course can help you with that too.

The Cake Baking and Decorating Diploma Course will take you up to 150 hours to complete, working from home. There is no time limit for completing this course, it can be studied in your own time at your own pace.

This is a Level 3 course and will give you 150 CPD (Continued Professional Development) points.

Upon completion of your course assessments, you receive 2 certificates. A certificate from the Centre of Excellence and a CPD certificate displaying the number of CPD points earned from the course.

This course is endorsed by the Quality Licence Scheme. Therefore, upon successful completion of this course, learners can also receive a certificate of achievement from Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary, which lists the details of all the units the learner has completed as part of the course. (This certificate is optional and costs an additional £25).
