Steam Trains and Locomotives for KidsCourse

In this steam trains course, you'll find lots of interesting stuff to read, diagrams that are easy to understand, and fun activities to do. Each module contains a video lesson, making learning about trains even more fun! If you're a younger learner, you can team up with an adult to complete this course, and if you're a bit older, you can read and do most of the activities by yourself.

As we move forward in this locomotives course, we'll talk about how trains have changed since the old days of steam and what they're like now. We'll explore some of the fastest and most interesting trains ever made and also learn about some big moments in train history.

We'll also see how trains became a big part of different cultures around the world and captured people's imaginations. You'll hear about famous trains like the Orient Express and places like the London Underground. We'll also talk about trains you might see in your local area as well as far-away train stations.

At the end of the course, you'll even start to become a little ferroequinologist (that's a fancy word for someone who loves trains, and you'll learn what it means, too!). You can start your own adventure of trainspotting, where you notice and explore trains outside, away from the screen and in the real world.
