Foraging for wild food is a traditional skill that many people have lost over time. Until relatively recently, it was a vital way of sourcing food. This may be why so many people develop a strong interest in foraging—it reconnects us with an ancient and natural practice. Most of us weren’t taught how to forage, but it remains a valuable skill with many practical and cultural reasons to learn it.
This online Foraging Course offers a diverse range of plants and suggested uses to spark your curiosity, including ideas for home remedies and practical tips to help you build your foraging knowledge and confidence.

You’ll begin with an introduction to foraging wild food, including the reasons people forage, basic botany, and important safety and legal considerations to ensure responsible and lawful foraging. We’ll cover preservation methods to make the most of your harvest.
The course explores common edible weeds, fungi (including edible and psychotropic mushrooms), and seasonal plants from Spring through Winter. While the course includes information on psychotropic plants for educational purposes, please note that any use of such plants must comply with local laws, and this course does not endorse or promote recreational or illegal use.
You’ll also discover coastal plants, seaweeds, and learn about safe practices for foraging shellfish. Always ensure your foraging respects local regulations and health guidelines.
Finally, you’ll learn how to make a variety of drinks from your foraged finds, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, encouraging your creativity.
