The course begins with a brief overview of acrylic painting. This includes an examination of how acrylics compare to water-based and oil paint, the tools you’ll need, and how to keep things cost-effective. To get you painting quickly, you’ll then jump into a simple warm-up exercise.
We’ll look at the importance of keeping a sketchbook journal as an inspirational and exploratory tool, and various methods of cataloguing and recording visual interests and prompts. The course will talk you through observing and noticing creative opportunities in everyday life, generating ideas, and developing them into projects.
The course will guide you through painting found objects, a natural landscape, a cityscape, and a still life – exploring the techniques and processes used to create each – with projects to complete for each.
The course concludes with advice on how to develop a plan that will help you to continue on your creative journey once you have completed the course.
