Dreams have always been part of the human experience, culture, and consciousness. We kick off this Dream Analysis & Therapy Diploma Course by looking at the historical value of dreams and introducing a range of interpretative approaches drawn from different psychological frameworks.
From here, you’ll go on to explore the relationship between dreams and memory, as well as the various sources and themes of dream content.
A significant portion of the course focuses on Freudian theory, which has deeply influenced the field of dream interpretation. With this in mind, you’ll explore the basic tenets of Freud’s psychoanalysis, including topographic and structural theories and the Freudian view of dreams. You’ll then delve into traditional Freudian dream analysis, how he prepared patients for analysis. and the method of interpretation used.
From this traditional viewpoint, you’ll move onto other approaches. You’ll encounter the Adaptive Paradigm, how things have changed in psychoanalysis (and how that affects dream theory), modern methods for dream analysis in psychoanalysis, Gestalt Dream Therapy, and Jungian dream analysis. This latter focus includes a look at symbols, archetypes, and how a Jungian dream analysis is conducted.
The Dream Analysis & Therapy Diploma Course concludes with an overview of common dream interpretations, as you discover the possible meanings behind the symbols, colours, animals, and people who often appear in dreams.
