Touch is one of the first ways we connect with our babies. It soothes, reassures, and creates an unspoken bond that supports physical and emotional development. This self-paced online baby massage course will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to practice baby massage safely, along with a complete understanding of its health and wellbeing benefits.

This course on baby massage starts by introducing the roots of the practice. You’ll explore its history and cultural traditions, as well as the modern research that supports its many benefits. From there, you’ll move into more practical topics like preparation, touch techniques, understanding baby anatomy, and reading behavioural cues.
You’ll also explore how bonding, attachment, and skin-to-skin contact affect early development, and how baby massage strengthens the emotional connection between parent and child.
As you move through the course, you’ll discover how this gentle, nurturing practice can:
Encourage deeper bonding between parent and baby.
Help improve sleep and relaxation (for both baby and parent).
Support digestion, circulation, and immune function.
Build parental confidence in caring for and handling infants.
Provide a way for partners, grandparents, and siblings to connect with the baby.
There’s also a dedicated module on working with infants who have additional needs, showing how massage can support physical, emotional, and social development in a range of scenarios.
One of the highlights of this accredited baby massage course is its video modules. You’ll be guided step-by-step through massage preparation, safety considerations, and specific sequences for every part of the body, from arms and legs to the scalp and abdomen.
The course includes detailed demonstration videos, covering:
Basic and advanced massage techniques for different areas of the body.
Tips for creating a calming and enjoyable massage experience.
Adjustments for different ages and developmental stages.
As well as massage techniques, the course helps you understand the bigger picture of infant wellbeing. You’ll learn about baby anatomy, growth, and physical development, emotional cues and behavioural patterns, and the role of touch in supporting cognitive and social development.
You’ll also discover how massage can evolve as children grow, with ideas for involving the whole family.
Massage oils can enhance the experience when used correctly. You’ll be guided through the dos and don’ts, including which essential oils are safe and recommended for babies, and which to avoid (especially with newborn skin).
If you’re feeling inspired to turn your knowledge into a service, the Baby Massage Diploma Course also includes guidance on setting up a small business or community offering. You’ll learn how to:
Create a business plan and define your goals.
Navigate legal and safety considerations.
Market your services and build client trust.
Run workshops and training sessions for parents.
Please note: This course is for educational and personal development purposes and does not qualify you as a medical professional or clinical massage therapist. It provides a strong foundation for teaching or practising baby massage in non-clinical and supportive environments, and includes full baby massage certification upon successful completion.
