You’ll begin by getting to know Shiatsu massage, from the treatment process and massage application to its origins and history. You’ll learn about Ki, meridians, and the role of Yin and Yang in Shiatsu massage.
We’ll look at the environment, preparation and equipment needed to provide Shiatsu massage and the objectives of a pre-massage consultation.
You’ll learn the basic principles of Shiatsu, the effects of using various techniques, how to use different body parts for massage and become familiar with the range of motion of various joints. You’ll learn how to conduct a Shiatsu session, covering various areas of the body, and how to provide a chair massage.
The course explores the use of meridian and local diagnosis and provides guidance on meridian stretching. You’ll also learn about the acupoints, the 14 different meridians, and how to treat diseases using acupoints.
The CPD-accredited course concludes with an examination of the scientific evidence that supports the effectiveness of Shiatsu for treating various conditions.
