Ever thought about someone right before they called? Or had a dream that seemed to echo something that happened days later? Parapsychology is the field that takes those kinds of experiences seriously and asks whether there's something genuinely worth studying behind them. This online parapsychology diploma course gives you the grounding to think about these questions properly.

You'll start by looking at how parapsychology actually came to be, including why Victorian scientists decided séances and mediums were worth investigating, and how a group of Cambridge academics ended up founding the Society for Psychical Research. It's a much more grounded history than most people realise, with some surprisingly rigorous figures behind it.
From there, you'll move into the Rhine era, when Joseph Banks Rhine took psychic research out of the drawing room and into the laboratory. His Zener card experiments changed what parapsychology could look like, and that shift still shapes the field today.
This is where things really open up. You'll look at the main types of psi that parapsychologists study — telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition and psychokinesis — along with the different ways researchers have tried to test each of them over the decades. A few highlights include:
Few topics in parapsychology grip people quite like near-death experiences. You'll look at the core features that show up again and again in NDE reports, alongside the main scientific explanations that have been put forward — and where those explanations tend to fall short.
You'll also explore mediumship research, apparitions, deathbed visions and the past-life memories that children sometimes report. This part of the course takes a careful, balanced look at what's known as the survival hypothesis and asks what the evidence actually supports.
Not everything in parapsychology is about whether psi is real. A big part of the field is understanding why people believe what they believe, and how our minds construct paranormal experiences from ordinary ones. You'll get a solid grounding in the cognitive side too. Topics covered include:
Parapsychology has some genuinely tricky methodological problems, and any good course on parapsychology has to take these seriously. You'll look at the decline effect, experimenter effects, the file drawer problem and how all of this fits into the wider replication crisis across psychology and science more broadly.
The course then brings things up to date with a look at where parapsychology sits now, including the way quantum physics keeps getting pulled into the conversation, and what the study of psi tells us about science itself.
You'll also get a whole module on what parapsychological experiences actually look like for ordinary people: the quiet intuitive hits, the vivid dreams, the synchronicities, the moments that don't quite fit. It's often the part that students say they find most personally useful.
Once you've completed all 10 modules and passed the assessments at the end of each one, you'll receive a CPD-accredited certification, which makes this one of the best parapsychology online courses if you want something to actually show for your time.
